SHE
“Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world” is the theme for this year’s
International Women’s Day. It highlights how women can be equal partners in
decision-making processes, especially those regarding policy making.
The #Pinkathon, #Sheroes #Womenfluencers #SaluteWomen #Balance for better #Each for Equal hashtags are some of the very few examples of the hundreds of International Women’s Day celebrations held in India. While the global perspectives and concern are about gender parity and disparity of remuneration being given for women who are health line workers, doctors and scientists, I narrow down the International Women’s Day as a day to remind our Patriarchs and Matriarchs about what it means to us.
The ‘SHE’ is a masterpiece. Branded as weaker counterparts and still
having remnants of pieces subject to less opportunity, the SHE has proved to be strong ! It is a challenge for every woman to
be her very self regardless of the generous service she caters to the relationships
around her. The SHE roles have been
pre-determined and fixed in our society!
SHE thinks
hard to make a choice between the career she is passionate about and the one
which would work for her and her family, SHE
struggles to strike the right balance between friendships and family as the
former needs approval of the latter! SHE
is free to make her own decisions in love and relationships but it is an unsaid
condition to give some thinking to what would actually work for her own people!
It’s always THEM first and then its HER. I am not talking only about the
deprived section of the female population, they do belong to all walks of life!
Some might be home makers, others, the
noticeably educated ones, and few others are in their respectable career
positions, but they are still confined to the boxes. What others get to see of
them from the outside remains to be just a mirage of empowerment but not a real
one!
It’s time for the SHE to rise above all these shackles of life and nourish herself in
the way she wants to live. A woman’s built-in character already serves to some
important aspects, they are the best caretakers and mothers. The women are just
born to do it right! Allow the SHE
to be what she wants to be! She might want to be the most successful one in her
career or she might want to JUST BE!
Time for SHE to get her rights
